I have it all

Sanna, walking around the cemetery where my mother is buried: "Can we go to the park now? There's nothing to do here but look at dead people."

Karl, sitting on the back step, looking out over the yard, chewing on a popsicle on the driest day in a week: "Nope. Not raining." I expected him to tip his straw hat and continue with, "It's a good year for corn," but he did not.

Sanna, sitting at the kitchen table: "Can we have a pitbull?" The moms, simultaneously: "No." Sanna: "Um, like a bowl for cherry pits?" Oh, then yes.

Karl, in the car listening to music: "I want... I want... I want the song... the DEEP song!" requesting Adele's "Rolling in the Deep"

Sanna lifting Karl's tricycle over her head: "Look what I can do!"

On Saturday, we went to a bar to watch a friend play his very first gig in rock band school. Karl loved it, but the sounds were way too loud, hence the Shrek imitation. The musician in charge of the thing program announced that they have music lessons for even little little kids, and Karl expressed an interest. Sanna turned to me and said, "I don't want to take music classes. I want to do swimming and gymnastics." Decisive. I like it.

On Tuesday, Sanna starts kindergarten. KINDERGARTEN! She's huge.

More later, honest. I've been so scattered with a month of work chaos, travel, strep, and other assorted drama that although I've been trying to post, I just haven't gotten around to it.

Kindergarten! Your children are so lovely. And you'd be surprised by how often I think of your descriptions of your mother.

You certainly do have it all. I love all those little snapshots of what goes on in our children's minds. Mine says with great frequency, "It's gonna rain tonight." Perhaps I have a weather forecaster in the making.
